Tyler Knockouts Name Zack Segovia General Manager

Tyler, TX — The Tyler Knockouts are proud to announce Zack Segovia as the organization’s General Manager, bringing nearly two decades of professional baseball experience, a deep connection to East Texas, and a passion for mentorship and player development to the franchise.

Segovia takes the helm of the Knockouts with a vision that extends beyond the game itself—one centered on building a lasting culture both on and off the field.

“Honestly, it’s the chance to build something real right here at home,” said Segovia. “This isn’t just baseball for me—it’s development, mentorship, and giving these guys something I had and sometimes didn’t have along the way. I’ve lived this game at the highest level, and now I get to bring that mindset and experience back to East Texas and pour into the next generation.”

Fans in Tyler can expect a brand of baseball that reflects Segovia’s professional background and competitive mindset. “They’re going to get a team that plays hard, plays right, and competes every single night,” he said. “We’ll be disciplined, tough, and prepared—but also connected. Guys that care about each other, the game, and representing Tyler the right way.”

Segovia also emphasized the significance of bringing high-level baseball back to the region. “This is the closest thing to professional baseball East Texas has had, and will have, since the Tyler Wildcatters. I remember being a kid in the stands watching them, so to now be part of bringing that level of baseball back here, it’s special.”

The opportunity to lead the Knockouts felt like a natural next step after an extensive playing career. “It just felt right,” Segovia said. “After 18 years in professional baseball across multiple organizations and countries, you start to understand what really matters. This gives me the opportunity to build something from the ground up in a place where I have real roots and real relationships.”

Segovia’s playing career spans 18 years across nine countries, including time with Major League organizations such as the Phillies, Nationals, Yankees, Brewers, Tigers, Rangers, and Padres. He also had the honor of representing Team USA on the international stage, further solidifying his reputation as a seasoned and accomplished player.

Off the field, Segovia is grounded in his roles as a husband and father. He and his wife Rachel are raising their three-year-old daughter, Scarlett Rae, an experience he credits with shaping his leadership style and perspective. “Becoming a husband and father changed everything for me—it gave me purpose beyond the game and shaped how I lead and live every day,” he shared.

His ties to Tyler run deep, with a personal history at Mike Carter Field where he once starred as a player. “I’ve played on this same field, Mike Carter Field is a place I didn’t just play, I dominated on,” Segovia said. “There are people here who watched that journey firsthand, including my high school coach Sam. That history and those relationships are a big part of why this opportunity means so much to me.”

As the Tyler Knockouts prepare for their upcoming season, Segovia’s leadership is expected to establish a strong foundation rooted in discipline, connection, and community pride.

At its core, Segovia’s mission is clear: “At the end of the day, I’m grounded in my faith, committed to my family, and driven to build something that lasts, on and off the field.”

The Tyler Knockouts look forward to an exciting future under Segovia’s leadership as they bring high-level baseball back to East Texas.
